As a professional leather craftsman, I generally avoid synthetic materials that try to look like leather. Blaze Leather sells a tool case made of genuine cowhide. However, this time I opted for the PVC tool case because it will be outside, constantly exposed to road-dirt, wind, rain and salt-spray in the winter. I thought I would have to give up quality in order to get the benefit of weather resistance. The PVC material looks and acts so much like real leather that I could barely tell that it's not leather. I think for this application, PVC is actually better than leather. I do wish that I had a tool bag that is bigger and longer, because few of my tools are small enough to fit in this bag. However, this bag will have limitless uses in addition to holding tools. Not only that, strapping this bag on a bike tells the world something about the personality of the bike's owner.
